Yorkville artists Adrian Card, Curtis Frost, Paula Gray, Sterling Hoffman and Tom Rodrigues, collaborated on this amazing piece of art, from inception to installation. All 5 artists donated their time and talents to make this local masterpiece. The YCBA purchased all the materials and facilitated its masterwork.
Each letter has a story that links it to YORKVILLE. The Y was created by Tom Rodrigues to depict the rolling hills and vineyards. The O was Sterling Hoffman's vision of the history of agriculture in the valley. The R was a plein aire collaboration of all 5 artists, at the same time, in the Mailliard Redwoods. The K created by Curtis Frost, represents "downtown" Yorkville, the community center/post office and fire station. The V, created by Paula Gray illustrates the natural flora and fauna. The I is the work of Adrian Card, it reflects our native American history with detailed Pomo basketry. The first L is another Paula Gray, portraying the many contributions of the Yorkville Ladies Sewing Circle. The second L is another of Adrian Card's pieces, it highlights the landmark railroad caboose that you see when entering Yorkville from the East. And the E at the end is another of Tom Rodrigues' chronicles of the wine region of Yorkville Highlands.
Congratulations to these two hardworking ladies! (Casey Farber, teacher at AV High School in center). They are recipients of the YCBA 2025 scholarships.

The Yorkville Community Benefits Association (YCBA) is so excited to finally say "it is done!" After many years of fundraising and another two to get the building actually completed, we can say it loud and proud!
We celebrated the new station with a party on June 15, 2024. The neighborhood came out in force to help us toast to the new station and this amazing community that made it happen. Dean Titus and Boot Jack Five played a great selection of music, getting us all up and dancin'. The YCBA provided street tacos, burgers, hot dogs, a delicious variety of salads and a beautiful cake and cookies for dessert. We all shared a champagne toast to all our combined efforts. A simple and fun way of saying Thank You to you, our amazing community.
We'd like to thank all of you, the Anderson Valley Volunteer Firefighters Association and the Community Foundation of Mendocino County for all your love and support of this fabulous endeavor.
The Ice Cream Social raises approximately $18,000 towards Yorkville volunteer fire fighting resources each year. The ENTIRE community steps up to help make the Social a huge success. Look for future opportunities to add the final touches and necessities that the new fire station will need to finish her off.
